On May 23, 2015 members of the Macomb Police Department hosted the 36th Annual Scott Jennings Memorial Fishing Contest at Spring Lake Park. This year we had 71 kids register for the event.
After the contest was over each participant had his/her caught fish weighed. Prizes were given out to the top 10 participants, determined by the total weight of each participant’s caught fish, in 4 different age groups. The largest haul was 8.25 pounds by Whitney Young. We also awarded Bryant Steele for catching the largest single fish of the day weighing in at 0.89 pounds. Each participant was also given a grab bag containing a few fishing items as they registered. All in attendance were offered free hot dogs and soda while the results were being calculated.
Sheriadyn McAvoy was the winner of the Sportsmanship Award this year. The Sportsmanship Award is given out each year to a participant that exhibits good sportsmanship values during the event. This year Sheriadyn reeled in a fish for a young boy when he was away from his pole. She then gave the fish she just reeled in to the young boy.
